  i am in conversation with a uk historian regarding some knights templar locations, where jws have built buildings.

  *** this is serious research - not a joke *** .

  i am not - and do not wish to be - a conspiracy theorist, but something has come to light in the uk and i lack the knowledge of knights templar + masons.

  You poor soul. Go on and get a life and stop searching for breadcrumbs of conspiracy theory that do not exist. Free yourself! Free your brain! Free your soul, mon (insert Jamaican accent here!).

  Freemasons and the Knights Templar are convoluted tropes that uneducated people try to connect using casual connections to every government bungle, every religion on earth, every thread of history, every negative or strange occurrence; and all of it is lunacy. The sinking of the Titanic? It was Freemasons. Jack the Ripper? Probably a Freemason. Lee Harvey Oswald? Freemason. Elon Musk? A descendant from a long line of Knight Templars. Shirley Temple? Mini fembot controlled by aliens. 9/11? It was George Bush. Martin Shkreli?—well he’s just a rich, entitled jerk with a one-of-a-kind Wu Tang Clan album. Dixie’s Midnight Runners? Nobody can explain them! Point is: there is no connection between the Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Freemasons, Knights Templars, Ancient Aliens, Chevy Camaros, or Sasha Baron Cohen. It’s all fruit-loopy conspiracy theory that feeds into one’s insistence on having to prove their ex is the monster and they are not when really maybe both of you were just not into each other. I am truly amazed that throughout my lifetime of many, many years I’ve watched mostly rather non-educated ex-witnesseses read a book or find a website or hear a rumor and somehow think that they are the first to discover some amazing connection to their ex-religion that will finally take them down, or expose them, or find some meaning in the mistake they think they’ve made by wasting their life as a JW. It’s like getting divorced, because you don’t like your mate anymore; and then after the fact spending years trying to prove they may or may not have cheated on you from something you may have casually come across. You are broken up. You are free. You don’t have to justify the validity of your breakup. You are done with them. It is all cognitive bias. It’s projection. It’s not real. Go read a great book or go to Crater Lake or write a poem. Anything but waste the time of your precious life. You only have one life! Don’t waste it.

  his papers from wtbts are still at princeton in the rare books section and boxed up.

  what is the likely hood that that there was political entanglement and that politics did not keep wtbts at arm's length but from time to time has used the wtbts for it's purposes.

  This post is silly. There has never been a conspiracy to spy within the JW's. If you were once an elder you would know this is stupid. Have there been nutcase elders who does stupid things? Of course. But to put out there silly conspiracy things like this that are half-baked and wishful thinking make you look like a loon.

  There are witnesses who openly admit they are homosexual, but do not act on their feelings. I've heard brothers give talks saying they are attracted to the same sex, but don't act on it and it is a great weight on them and that is their great burden. I've heard others say it in private. It wasn't a big secret back in the day.

  I know non-JW's that are obviously gay and don't wish to be and don't live a gay life-style. Live and let live. Who cares? People have to live the way they want to. There are gay men and women that wish they were not gay and they choose to not act on their feelings. That's their issue. If they want to live that way it's their choice. Who are we to criticize how others choose to live their life?

  this strategy of producing scientific uncertainty undercut public health efforts and regulatory interventions designed to reduce the harms of smoking.the watchtower easily did the same thing by exploiting the confusing doctrine of the trinity and pointing to the corrupt history of the catholic church.

  ok. many people deny ct russell was a freemason.

  i have read articles whereby some have found no evidence to prove he was one at any point in his life.. however, given all the masonic symbols in the early publications including the use of the name jehovah ( the name the freemason's use to identify god), as well as the expressions used such as 'new world, new order' etc certainly raises suspicions.. then there is the article he wrote in the herald magazine outlining that he was a freemason (see the following video 40 seconds in).

  it really does make you think!.

  we all know the rate of suicide is high among jw's.

  my question is this- was there some subliminal messages that encourage this.

  i was a born in and my entire life i would have these thoughts that could come out of nowhere,"kill yourself.

  You know posts like this are extremely insensitive and not thought out. Everybody in the world can struggle with mental illness. There is no cure. You cannot stop it. No group is immune. And there has never been a study done about the suicide rate of Jehovah's Witnesses that I've ever heard of. In the U.S. about 40,000 people a year kill themselves. I do not believe the suicide rate of Jehovah's Witnesses is anywhere near that.

  People need to make posts where they are not coming from the JW's-are-the-worst-people-in-the-world in all aspects. It kind of makes you look like a homer.
